Satmala Ella or Hatmale Ella flows silently in Pallegama local council belonging to Deniaya town. Satmala Falls is the highest waterfall in Gingaga, formed by water streams on the top of Gongala mountain at 3900 feet in Deniya. This is known as Satmala Ella due to the fact that the water falls on the platforms here.
Among the waterfalls around Deniya, the most beautiful waterfall is Hatmala Ella or Satmala Fall. This is Al The distance to the waterfall on the Pallegama road from Deniya is 12 km. Turn right from the highway and travel for another 2 km. It is called Satmala Ella because it has seven mahals made of granite stones. Satmala Falls, which is 45 meters high and 10 meters wide, is the 68th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka.
There is also a sign posted indicating that it is a dangerous area, so it is wise to avoid unsafe diving, but there are places to swim here as well. But even now many lives have been lost here.
